A Boot Collector Feature
A Houston father-and-son shop whose boots have gone on the feet of a sitting Houston mayor.
Custom Boots By Morado operated out of Frisco Street in Houston, run by James Morado and his son, also named James, who had been in business together for more than twenty years at the time of a Texas Monthly feature on the state's bootmakers. The father-son shop built both fancy and basic Western boot styles for a broad Houston clientele.
Western boots in both dressed-up and everyday styles, with a notable client in former Houston mayor Bob Lanier. At the time of the Texas Monthly feature, pairs started around $595 with a six-to-eight-month turnaround.

Pairs from smaller, custom, or long-closed makers rarely come up for sale, so this search may not find anything. It’s worth checking back now and then.
