A Boot Collector Feature
Not quite a Western brand and not quite anything else — a fashion house that filters the West through whatever's happening in fashion capitals that season.
Cheryl McMullen founded Double D Ranch in 1989 in Yoakum, Texas, and built it into one of the most recognizable independent fashion houses working in Western-adjacent style. Rather than designing classic ranch wear, DDR filters Western imagery through whatever's current in fashion capitals, giving each seasonal collection its own reinterpretation of what "inspired by the West" means. The design team leans on historical reference points to ground new pieces, so the look reads as romantic and vintage-inflected rather than purely trend-driven.
Now approaching 35 years in business, the brand maintains a genuinely devoted following — its "DDR Addiction" Facebook community numbers in the thousands — and runs an outlet out of its renovated, century-old Yoakum headquarters. DDR has also built cross-promotional partnerships with other Western-adjacent names, including Old Gringo, Greeley Hat Works, and the Peyote Bird Collection.
A boho, romantic take on Western style rather than a literal one — heavily storied garments, vintage references, and a design philosophy built around reinterpretation rather than tradition for its own sake. The brand actively encourages its own secondary resale market, treating pre-owned DDR pieces as a way to bring in younger customers rather than something to discourage.

Thirty-five years of filtering the West through fashion rather than history — and a following loyal enough to run its own resale economy.
