A Boot Collector Feature
An artist first, Holly Henry apprenticed for eight years before building a Boulder, Colorado shop around a single rule: a custom last for every foot.
Holly Henry has been an artist and maker her whole life, selling photography internationally by age 14 and studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Originally from the Houston area, she apprenticed for eight years across multiple locations, learning bootmaking, leather repair, and bespoke tailoring, before settling into her own independent shop in Boulder, Colorado. Every pair starts with a custom last built to that customer's measurements, a last she keeps on file to reuse for future orders, and she personally carries each boot through the full production process — roughly 60-plus hours of labor per pair.
Fully welted construction designed to be resoled for decades, boots built collaboratively with each client rather than off a fixed catalog, and a genuine heirloom quality — a well-kept pair can even be resized and resoled for a new wearer down the line.
A custom last, built once and kept for a lifetime of resoles.
Pairs from smaller, custom, or long-closed makers rarely come up for sale, so this search may not find anything. It’s worth checking back now and then.
