A Boot Collector Feature
Jose Jesus Guevara arrived in Houston and introduced himself by his full name — his boss shortened it to "Jesse," and the name stuck to the shop he built.
Jesse's Boots traces back to Jose Jesus Guevara, who arrived in Houston from Mexico in the 1980s. On his first job in town, asked his name, he gave his full name the way it's customary to in Mexico — his employer thought it was too long and shortened it to "Jesse," and the nickname became the business's name when Guevara founded Jesse's Shoe Repair in South Houston in 1989. What began as a shoe repair counter grew into custom boot manufacturing and, eventually, a broader Western wear offering. Today the shop is run by Guevara's daughter, Maria Rivera, continuing the family operation.
Custom boots, leather goods, and shoe and leather repair, built on the kind of personalized service that's kept customers coming back for decades — the shop reports serving over a thousand clients with a 95% positive review rate, and more than 45 combined years of experience among current staff.
A 1989 South Houston shop, still run by the founder's family.
