A Boot Collector Feature
A family bootmaking operation out of Caldwell, Texas, working in exotic skins that go well beyond the usual ostrich and alligator.
Meyer Custom Bootmakers, also doing business as Meyer Ranch Boots, operates out of Caldwell, Texas, as a family bootmaking shop building fully custom, handmade boots. A detailed founding history hasn't surfaced independently, but the operation is visibly a family affair, with newer family members apprenticing alongside more established hands. The shop leans into an unusually wide range of exotic leathers for its custom orders, well past the ostrich-and-alligator standard most custom shops stick to.
An exotic-skin lineup that stands out even among custom bootmakers — ostrich, alligator, hippo, elephant, pirarucu, stingray, shark, snapping turtle, lizard, and snake, built to order with custom inlays and personalized boot pulls. Boots start around $2,500 a pair, and the shop also runs a Louisiana alligator-hunting-and-boot package, plus a standing program for Texas A&M's Aggie Corps of Cadets.
A Texas family shop with one of the widest exotic-skin lineups around.
Pairs from smaller, custom, or long-closed makers rarely come up for sale, so this search may not find anything. It’s worth checking back now and then.
