A Boot Collector Feature
San Antonio's late "gran maestro" of bootmaking, Genero Uribe, left a legacy that bootmaker Refugio Perez carried forward under new ownership.
Rogers Custom Made Boots operated out of Loop 410 Southwest in San Antonio, with bootmaker Refugio Perez, originally from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, building the boots and Roy Rogers running the shop. A Texas Monthly feature on the state's bootmakers framed the operation as continuing the legacy of Genero Uribe, remembered in San Antonio's bootmaking circles as a "gran maestro" — a great master — after his death.
Tough hides and solid soles, with a particular specialty in orthopedic boots built to accommodate foot conditions that off-the-rack boots can't. At the time of the Texas Monthly feature, pairs started around $500 with a five-to-six-week turnaround, notably fast for fully custom work.

Pairs from smaller, custom, or long-closed makers rarely come up for sale, so this search may not find anything. It’s worth checking back now and then.
