A Boot Collector Feature
A 1940s American Western boot label, old enough that surviving pairs are now true antiques rather than just vintage.
Stewart Romero is confirmed through at least one surviving pair of American-made brown leather cowboy boots dated to the 1940s, making it one of the older vintage names that turn up in this series. Beyond that physical evidence, no company history — a founder, an address, how long the label operated — has been documented. A woven label from the TW Collection does give one solid clue: it reads “Stewart Romero, Los Angeles, Calif.,” placing the label in Southern California. Given the era, it's entirely possible the name belonged to a single bootmaker or small regional shop rather than a larger manufacturer, consistent with how much Western bootmaking worked before the industry consolidated around larger names in the postwar decades.
Simply surviving — a genuine 1940s Western boot label old enough to count as a real antique, worth recognizing precisely because so few details about it have made it to the present day.

A genuine 1940s name — rare enough to be worth a second look if you find one.
Pairs from smaller, custom, or long-closed makers rarely come up for sale, so this search may not find anything. It’s worth checking back now and then.
