A Boot Collector Feature
A Bossier City, Louisiana western store that outfitted North Louisiana cowboys and rodeo fans for 55 years — and put its own name on boots built by an outside maker.
Bubba Reeves opened the store in 1970, and for more than five decades it was a fixture of the Shreveport–Bossier area, known variously as Topps Western Wear and Topp’s Western World. It started on Texas Street near Benton Road in central Bossier City before moving in 2006 to its own spot on Topp’s Trail off Industrial Drive. Locals stopped in for boots, hats, jeans, and saddles, and it was a go-to before big concerts and championship rodeos.
The Reeves family — with Mark “Topp” Reeves speaking for them — announced the store’s closing in October 2025, after a long stretch of I-20 construction cut into business. A final retirement sale began October 23, 2025. The family’s trailer sales and service business, Topp’s Trailers, stayed open.
Fifty-five years of boots and western wear for North Louisiana, and a store-label line of boots that now turns up on the vintage market. Like other retailers in this series, Topps commissioned its labeled boots rather than building them, so the maker behind a given pair is the detail collectors will want to pin down.
A North Louisiana western-wear institution, 1970–2025.
