What It Is

Most "snakeskin" boots use python, usually Burmese or reticulated, farmed commercially in Southeast Asia. Burmese python runs thinner and more malleable than other python species, with an irregular, rounded color pattern in its scales rather than a sharp geometric diamond pattern. Rattlesnake and a handful of other species show up too, carrying their own regional and novelty appeal beyond the leather itself. Whatever the species, the scales and tight fiber composition give snake leather real scuff and puncture resistance for how thin and delicate it looks, along with a natural stretch not far off standard leather.

In Boots

Full exotic uppers or accent overlays, chosen as much for the distinctive scale pattern as for performance — a diamond-patterned python panel or a rattlesnake-skin boot both read as a deliberate style statement.

Care

Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth and condition regularly with a conditioner made for exotics. Avoid excess moisture, store in a cool, dry place, and handle carefully — the scales can be damaged by rough treatment more easily than a thicker leather would be. See our boot care guide for general notes.
